Movement Church Connect Groups

Connect Groups are small groups that gather during the week with the goal of growing in relationship with each other and with God.

Gathering on Sundays to worship together and receive biblical instruction is massively important, but so is the ability to challenge, encourage, and pray for one another in smaller groups. Small groups are not just for learning, but also for sharing each other’s burdens, celebrating each other’s blessing, and for fulfilling Jesus’ “new” commandment to “love one another.”

People who are connected to healthy, life-giving groups are often those that experience the greatest growth in their lives, because God has designed the church so that we will reach maturity in the context of community.

Below is a list of our Connect Groups. Feel free to reach out to each Group Leader via Email by clicking the “More Info” button next to the group:

Bible Study

Meeting Location: The Schapiro’s home (for an exact location, click “More Information”)

Group Description: This group is for both men and women, and those with children are welcome to bring them along. We spend the first part of the night hanging out, eating, and catching up on life, and the second part digging into the Scriptures and praying together. Our goal each week is to apply what we’ve learned to our lives so that we not only know more but we live differently as well.
Act Like Men (Men’s Ministry)

Group Leader: Rick Rhodes Sr.

Meeting Time: 3rd Saturday of each month | 9:00-11:00 am

Meeting Location: Movement Church fellowship hall
(3680 Manchester Road, Akron, Ohio 44319)

Group Description: There is a proverb that says, "As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another" (Proverbs 27:17). Yet many men today lack the kind of relationships that challenge them to grow in their faith so that they can truly become the Christians, husbands, fathers, coworkers, and friends that they're called to be. This group is dedicated to helping each other grow toward the godly standard of manhood set by Jesus, and to fulfilling our calling to "act like men" (1 Corinthians 16:13). One of the ways we do this is by coming together for a Men’s Breakfast on the third Saturday of each month.
